Amber HomolkaEstate Planning and Probate Law
In 2004, Amber began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the 15th Judicial District of Louisiana. She then moved to San Francisco and worked as a tax attorney for Ernst and Young’s Private Client Services. While at the Big Four, Amber researched and wrote memoranda in support of income and estate tax positions for high net worth individuals. She is listed as one of the editors to the Ernst and Young Tax Guide for 2006, an industry standard income tax guide.
Later, Amber was a tax attorney for the Wall Street investment bank, Lehman Brothers. She worked in Private Investment Management, supporting high net worth clients and securities traders in Texas, California and the Pacific Northwest. She has worked with clients of varied backgrounds, including real estate investors, fixed income traders and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. Following her work at Lehman Brothers, she was a consultant to start-up businesses for many years.
Amber relishes finding creative drafting solutions to fulfill the estate planning desires of her clients. She worked for the Akiens Law Firm, drafting Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney after re-entering law practice in 2018 and then started her own firm, where she handled estate planning and probate matters for clients throughout the Houston area for three years. Her favorite part of law practice is meeting talented people from all walks of life.
Amber is licensed to practice law in Louisiana (inactive), Georgia (inactive) and Texas. She is a member of the Real Estate and Probate Law (REPTL) section of the Texas Bar and has been privileged to work for several ACTEC (American Trust and Estate Counsel) fellows and several attorneys who are Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has successfully completed courses at the University of Houston Law Center LLM Taxation program in real estate tax, tax research, and estate and gift tax. When Amber is not working, she enjoys hiking, Pilates and spending time with her family.
